Show THE WORD FROM BOULDER By Ncthclla Woolsey Once more wo voters have expressed our will at the polls. Nationally, I believe we have chosen the better man. For my own part, I am humbly grateful to those who elected me to the state legislature. I shall try earnestly to justify their confidence. I ask for their continued support in my work and for any suggestions they may have to offer. We are rejoicing because of the good rainstorm of the past three days hoping that it is a harbinger cf more to come no that we can look forward to better times ahead. As always, our joy in the storm is tempered by our regrets for the roads. About one- third of our people wallowed through the mud to Escalante Sunday for stake confer ence. (The wise ones stayed home.) Our feelings were scarcely In a religious mood as we considered how the state road commission had disappointed us for another year. Last spring they authorized money to be rpent on a survey of a port of the road. This survey has never been started. We wish they had to ride that school bus for one week, A bad sight on the road yesterday was a huge semi-truck loaded with cement (continued on bsck page) BOULDER pipe lying on its side. It had evidently run onto the soft shoulder of the road and slipped to where it was ove"r-bal-anccd. The accident occurred about 4 A3I. Friday. Driver and owner of the truck; Jer-ald Braithwaite of - Murray, was making one of his trips with pipe for the Garkane construction project on the West Fork of the Boulder stream. Neither Mr. Braithwaite nor his relief driver was injured. Mr. and Mrs. Leland Haws returned Saturday after spending several days in Salt Lake where Mr. Haws attended an electric power association conference. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde' King took a truck load of cattle to the Salina auction Friday and returned by way of Torrey. They made It round the mountain but advise others not to try It until the road dries considerably. Road crews have finally pushed the snow off, but water continues to reach the road from the hillsides. Moro and better barrow pits jnd culverts are needed. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Ormond went to Salt Lake Sunday so that" Glen could meet an appointment with a medical specialist on Monday. Mrs. Mary Moosman observed her eighty-fourth birthday quietly at a dinner party at her home on Thursday, with one son and two daughters. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Moosman and Mrs. Veda Behunin of Boulder and Mrs. Twila Mclnelly and Mrs. Mary Mclnelly of Escalante. |
