Jack Frost, with his Icy breath nipped the vegetation but hasn't completely killed It, the weather of coursa has been much cooler but no moisture. The men have started gathering cattle off the Mountain to take to the desert for winter. Some items missed last " week were: Dr. and Mrs. Le on Cowles of Oregon accompanied by her parents, the Albert Griffins went to St. George to the Roundup then to Hurricane to visit the Charley Griffins, then Leon and Beth went back to Oregon to get to work. Mayor and Mrs. Claron Griffin didn't stop at Salt Lake City, they went on to Oregon to the Pendleton Roundup, the Ott Roundys accompanied them. Mr. and Mrs. Jess Skinner of Provo were visitors at the Ray "'' Adair home, Mrs. Skinner is Mariah's sister Melda; Mari-ah has been to Henrleville visiting relatives and now her daughter Deloa Savage of Pangultch is visiting her. A two engine plane from Idaho with three professional "Smoke Jumpers" is herere-seedlng the Forest in this area and around Boulder under the direction of Ranger John Strang. Mrs. Leona Spencer of Provo and her daughter Virginia and husband, tho Bill Kings were last week visitors at the Hilo Boyce home. De-anna Lyman spent two weeks here with her parents, the ftandal Lymans, hardly anyone saw her as she spent her time helping Gwen get caught up, then they took her back to Cedar where she plans to spend the winter, Claron Griffin painted a pretty red trimming on his store where it had been green; the Jess Barkers had their house painted sort of cream color on the outside but Jess couldn't stand the smell of fresh paint so he broke his hip so he could gotothehos-i pital until it evaporated; the Escalante folks have been doing more than their share to keep the Pangultch hospital in patients: besides Mr. Barker, Rodney Cottam is still there waiting to have his back fixed after being struck with falling timber; Mamie Barker (Mrs. Blllie) is still there being treated; Elda Haws went there for major surgery but is back home, and LaVern Woolsey was there quite ; spell for medical treatment. Allen Pollock Is trying to get back to normal but Just can't seem to get to feeling like himself. You maybe would like to know how the Roland Porters are after their car wreck: Mina is well enough that she puts in an occasional .shift at Whlteys cafe and Roland is teaching school on one ennrh. The Whltey Porters wrecked the car on the way back from the Ice Follies, ran into a deer inr CirclevUli Canyon, they phoned for their son Marvin to come and get them. Haws Porter of Orem got a job here, this Steel Strike , puts folks on tho move to find jobs, the Kenneth Griffins of Provo have been back again. This new power line being erected has employed some of the local fellows. Elise Oti is spending considerable time going to Tropic to repaper and paint Norm's house over there, it looks like he figures on dragging her off over, there to live. Clarice Griffin worked the following ladies at a quilting ' last week: Amanda Mitchell, Sariah Alvey, Beth Woolsey, Mary Griffin, Dicey Porter, and Meleta Cottam, it was held at the home of her mother Aunt Susan Heaps. Aunt Susan, Clarice and Ernie went to Pangultch to attend the wedding of the son of Champ Church, other relatives went over for the reception. The Gall Baileys went to Richfield for dental appointments and Gall shopped for a trackball is President of the local Seventies and they had planned, to meet the members from Boulder down on Calf Creek for a Mutton Fry, but the weather turned so chilly Boulder decided not to come so the Fry was held In the Bailey home with fifteen In attendance. The William Mitchells went to Delta to visit William's brother Melvin who has had surgery and is not too well. The Stanley Haycocks and the Jim Haycocks went to Pan-guitch for medical checkups, the Vic Cottams and Golda go over every available chance to see Rodney. Helen Wright of Pangultch has been over here giving Tupperwaro parties, last week Sariah Alvey entertained and several weeks ago June Liston was hostess. Mr. and Mrs. LaVan Bausr and family of Cedar City were weekend guests at the. Daniel Wilcock home. Ruth Wilcock was taken tp Pangultch for medical treatment. Mr. and Mrs. Billie Davis, the Blake Robinsons and the Wan-les Alveys accompanied by tho McKinley Morrels of Junction and the Reed Thomsons o( Cedar City went to Las Vegas for the long weekend, the local folks got back with their shirts, didn't see the others. Smith Alvey went to Delta to work, Gadcn Gates Is there also. The Arden Taylors went to Salt Lake City with a load of lumber leaving the kids with Grandma Mel-ba Gates, if any cf you house wives start to make bread and havo to leave just take It to Melba to bake, she finished off four batches last Monday and did a fine jib. Arnold Alvey took his wife Deon, mother Sariah, mother-in-law Faun Mecham, myself and daughter LaVee to Pangultch Monday, we figured that with united effort Deon could get her baby and she did, another girl making three. This makes ten great grandchildren for BertRoun-dy, he told me he had seven when Marten Haws had a girl but two ran around t so' fast he couldn't count them. The Frelan Alveys and Rolane Lyman went to Richfield on business, the Lymans have a '56 Mercury, red and white, and the Vernon Griffins have a '57 Ford station wagon also fed and white. The DeRay, Porters took their son Cal to school then went on a belated honeymoon; they took Eddie and Veda Mitchell with them so they wouldn't get lonesome. The Verl Jaspersons went to Richfield for medical attention. Lorin Blood, his son-in-law, Kirk Garflled and Kirk's brother were here making tests and hoping to Install TV In here, but they couldn't get any financial backing so got discouraged and went back north Mary Lyman has gone to Ida'ho to visit her daughter Vida and family. Idonna Haws and Ruby Ormond came from Boulder to meet tha freight Tho Harmon Shakcspeares of Tropic visited here Sunday with Mont and Ethyl Griffin; the Bart Smiths of Henrie-ville were also Sunday visit ors here. The Reeves Bakers wont to Salt Lake City for the Ice Follies and to visit their kids the Jay Andertons; Jay is going to school and Laurel Is working. Reeves told me their son Wilmer, on a mission in us-.trallla is getting the Garfield Count News now as a present from his grandmother LI 111 e Baker and how much he enjoys the news from his home county. Laura Baker was put in as Coordinator for the Junior Sunday School, taking the place of LaVern Woolsey who resigned on account of her health.
