Quite a number of requests for technical assistance havo been received by this office. Some of these requests are coming from Irrigation companies for designs on flumes, measuring devices, evaluation of reservoir sites, etc. The West Panguitch Irrigation and Reservoir Co. Is going to finish Installing the I'arshall flumes they lecent-ly purchased. Harmon Shakes-pear Is the new president of the Tropic Irrigation Co. and the company plans on replacing a flume and doing some work at l)ae's Hollow. If you want to see something interesting, go down to Escalan-te and see how the Wide Hollow dam Is .going up. There are 12 pieces of various kinds of equipment being used In Its construction and It is quite a sight to see them all working at once on the dam. Jesse Cherrlngton, chairman of the Upper Sevier Board, urges the cooperators of the district who are planning on requesting the use of the district equipment to do leveling, construct ponds, etc., to let him or their respective board members know so that requests can be given better consideration in scheduling. Out at Spry, the Croft Bro-thers from Orderville, and Stewart LeFevre have purchased :i farms (Vern Goff's, Clifford Le-Fevre'a) and are planning on starting to make some Improvements this year. A large farm pond Is to be constructed and some land leveling done while the equipment Is there, Frank Houston is doing some land leveling too. Stewart should be a capable manager of these farms. Ray L. Frost la helping them prepare a farm plan. Fasture Improvement and Improvement of the Irrigation layout on these farms are two of their main problems. Dy the way. If any of you farmers are planning on constructing farm ponds holding 6 to 20 acre feet, there is a procedure to be followed in getting permission from the State Engineer's Office to build them. We shall be glad to discuss this procedure with you. It is not difficult to follow, and It Is In the Interest of the farmer to make his Investment In such construction secure and safe. |
