Show SCOUT BANQUET IN ESCALANTE IS BIG SUCCESS "Scouts Today Men of Tomorrow" was the theme of a banquet held Saturday night In Escalante. Opening Ceremony was lighting of 15 candles by Scouts and repeating the 12 parts of the Scout Law and the Scout Oath. District Chairman of Organization Win, C. Norton then presented the Charters to the Scout Leaders of the three Wards. Escalan to North Ward Charter bears the names of Vernon Spencer, Institutional Representative, and Committeemen Rary Griffin, Or-land Porter and Othello Barney with Hal Shurtz as Scoutmaster. South Ward: Doyle P. Shurtz as Institutional Representative, and George Hamilton, Alden Moyes, J. Berlin Orborn, Junius Wilson, Alburn Griffin,, Ivan B. Willis. H rum Coleman, DeVcre Gates and Dale M-rsh as Scoutmaster. Boulder Ward: Truman Lyman ns Institutional Representative, with Conunltteemen Iorln Moosman, Lester Baker and Leland Haws and Doyle Moosman as Scoutmaster and larry S, Coombs, Assistant. C. B. Crane, Chairman of District Advancement, then awarded Tenderfoot Badges and mln-Icturis to Barrel Alvey, Joo Hall, Clark Spencer, Lynn ILlf-lln, Tony Reynolds, Milton Wool-sey, Sherrild Mounteer, Do-Wayno Hafen, LaVoy Hafen, Sharon Dale Marsh, Roger Hamilton, Dave Mclnelly, Blaine Wil-ll-and . JtusseL .Wilson, Second Class Badge was awarded to Douglas Haycock who led In th Candlo Lighting ceremony. Scouter Dean introduced District Chairman Ross Thomas, Organization Chairman Wiu. Cameron Norton, Advancement Chairman C. B. Crane, Leadership-Training Chairman Bruce Peterson, Health and Safety Chairman Dale Webber to tho banqueters. Comments were mado by Scouters Thomas, Peterson, and Field Executive Wood-row C. Dennett. Musical numbers were given by Von da Munson, accompanied by Mrs. Hal Shurtz, and a fine piano solo by Scout Lynn Griffin. |
