They are Thorley Johnson of Henrlevllle and Earl Jolley of Tropic, One new member was elected. He Is Arlo Barton of Tropic, who was a successful equipment operator for the Tropic, Parla and Escalante Tractor Co. Mr. Barton replaces Harmon Shakespear, who has served very well on the Parla SCI) Board since this district was organized. One of the big problems In this district, as It Is In much of the arid 'Vst. is a shortage of water. Eu'urts are being made lo make better use of the available Irrigation water. Recent developments In education and understanding of water application, also storage efficiencies, show that it Is possible to double the effectiveness of our water use according to some experts. Many experienced Irrigators, like Ken Lynn, can mamge and distribute water evenly to many furrows. Others, Including N. O. Henrle, Tom Dodds, Frank Henrle and A. F. Miller, know that 10 to 25 percent of Irrigation water can be saved under present systems merely by under. Handing Irrigation problems and giving them some attention. From this corner It appears thai l no one can get better watei rights and better yields for sc Utile Investment. "A seamless web the unit) of land and water and men." - David E. Llllenthal |
