Show Sleeting of I G. B. M. A. Tlie Garland Business Men's Association met in regular session ses-sion Tuesday evening, at the Council Chambers in the Bank of Garland, President Jos W. Ijjewis in the chair. Minutes of njeeting hold June 24th, were read and approved. f'lahop Charles MuniiB met h the association to discuss matter of fencing tho Garland Gar-land school grounds, continuing this cement walk to the railroad crossing and putting the sidewalks side-walks at tho crossing In proper condition starting further that if this matter was attended to he and other rcsidctns of that pjrt of the city would either cement or gravel tho sidewalks tbjthe city limits. John J. Slmmway, member of the Board of Education, reported that tho fencing of the schbol grounds lfqd been passed favorably upon by tho school board, but that tho Business Men's Association at a previous session had decid-:el decid-:el that the grounds would look bfetter without a fence and for ,Uuit reason no action had been .mken. Matter of the cement ialk further discussed and referred re-ferred to tho School Board, (-jjmljjtee'appointed .to take up ;matter 6f fixing crossing of rail road with the O. S. L. R. 'R. Co,, said company already having hav-ing this matter under consideration. J. W. Baker and J. II. Kirk-ham, Kirk-ham, representing the Garland Military Band, requested tho support of the nssocatlon in helping the Band out in a financial way. After thoroughly thorough-ly investigating conditions, a motion carried that the Garland Military Band be taken over by the association and guaranteed what financial Biipport Baid organization or-ganization needed to keep them together and purchase the in-Itruinents in-Itruinents at present needed. Mayor L. W. Preston reported report-ed that a dommlttce had me with tho O. S. L. R. R. Co. in respect to bettering the present pres-ent train sen'ice via tho Malad Valley Branch; also that matter had been referred to the general officers of said company with favorable recommendations. G. R. Cole reported advertising advertis-ing campaign well under way ; and was busy at work preparing i mailing list. Motion to adjourn carried. |
