Show FROSTS CAUSE SERIOUS LOSS. Central and Middle States Suffer From Cold Weather. Chicago. Despite tho almost unprecedented un-precedented storm that swept over a dozen states Saturday and Sunday and government prediction of moro cold and snow, tho shifting of tho wind to the northwest promises to mitigate extensive crop damage in tho middle west. A canvass of the situation shows greatest damage has resulted in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio. In Kansas, Missouri and Kentucky snow is expected to protect small fruits and lessen loss on apples. Mississippi, Mis-sissippi, Tennessee and Arkansas reports re-ports show considerable damage has been done by the coldest late April weather on record in those states. Information from Wisconsin and Michigan indicate the fruit crop will not be much moro than half usual size. |
