And yet there is ' an orchard in this county, tho yiold of which, prominent fruit oxperts have placed at 10,000 , bushels this year. The orch- ( ard is that owned by Mr. Jonn If. Forsgron, formerly of this city and is located due west from Deweyville station, about three miles. The writer was visiting Mr. Forsgron and family last Sun-Hay, Sun-Hay, and spent considerable of Ihe day standing in the midst of the orchard gazing at the wondrous sight on every turn. We hdvc great peach orchards here in Urigham, and we have . xlens'm- berry patches, hut Sunday was the first time it has ( boon our lot to see a real apple orchard in all its glory. Tho trees wore bending to ; tho ground with their precious ' load of large, luscious, red and I yollow apples, but there were very fow broken limbs. Mr. Forsgron has sprayed his trees thoroughly, and now has them bandaged around the trunk with burlap, so that the immense im-mense crop is practically free from disease, and the apples are of splendid size, beautiful color and their flavor is just right. The apple orchard covers '20 acres, and contains .',000 trees, each of which will yield on an average of three bushels. There jtro three varieties, the Jonathan, Jona-than, Hen Davis and Shackel-I'ord. Shackel-I'ord. For the .lonothan Mr. Forsgron will receive $1.00 per bushel delivered on the ears, and for the other varieties the gentleman says he will receive $1 per bushel straight. The Ben Davis and Sheckelford are very largo apples and will require re-quire loss to fill a bushel, henco the dilterence in price between jthem and the Jonathan is about made up in the quanity required requir-ed to fill a box. But such a sight! It's an eye-openor eye-openor to anyone and is a practical prac-tical demonstration of orcharding orchard-ing in tho great .Bear River Valley. Mr. Forsgron also has ten acres in peaches, tho trees being be-ing four years old this year. The harvest this season was very good, but because of being be-ing disappointed in getting his box tomber, some of the fruit got overripe and had to be sold at a sacrifice. Next season he expects to fill 4,000 cases. Besides tins fruit Mr. Forsgron Fors-gron raises he has .t large piece of land in alfalfa for seed, a track in sugar beets, two pieces from which ho harvested a good crop of wheat and oats, and then the kitchen garden, lie is prepared to fight frost in the spring with orchard heaters, and with several years of experience, ex-perience, he is qualified to farm and raise fruit on a scientific basis, with golden profits accruing. accru-ing.
