Show COALITION BROKEN. Senators Bailey and Cummins Come to Parting of Ways on Income Tax. Washington. It was announced Fridny that the coalition of Democratic Demo-cratic senators and "progressive Republicans" Re-publicans" had been broken, so far as tho Income tax Is concerned, nnd that amendments on that subject would be presented by both Senators Bailey arid Cummins. Both amendments will provldo ror flat rates or tax, hut they d'-ffer on seme other Impornnt features, particularly par-ticularly the proposed tax on corpoi atlons. It wns stated also upon the highest high-est authority that an agreement hns been renched between tho flnanco committee nnd the supporters of rreo lumber, by which tho duty on drotssed lumber snll not be more than 50 cents a thousand above the rate fixed on rough lumber, whatever that may be. |
