At tho some timo ho visited Hannibal, his boyhood home. Just ns ho was about to leave, being accompanied to tho station by a crowd of citizens, Tom Nash, a schoolfellow, school-fellow, camo up white headed, but still a boy. Ho shook hands with his friend of many a year and nodding toward tho crowd snld: "Peoplo of this town aro tho samo blamed fools, thoy alwaya were, ain't they, Sam?"
