Odcll, of Now York, was coming up for a re-nomination re-nomination at tho convention In Saratoga, Sara-toga, there was a plan to put a man on tho ticket with him for lieutenant governor gov-ernor to whom Odell objected strongly. Tho governor's fnthcr, 88 years old, a deacon In tho church nnd very strict In religious matters, was In Saratoga. Thero was a conference nt ono of tho hotel cottages that lasted until Into in tho morning. Tho other leaders lead-ers were trying to forco Odcll to tako tho obnoxious man. About two o'clock Odcll's father, who had heard what was going on, stalked angrily over to tho cottagoand rapped on tho door. Frank Piatt, son of Senator Piatt, came to tho door. "Well?" said Piatt sharply. "I want to sco my son," demanded Odcll. Tho governor came to tho door. "What Is It, father?" ho asked.
