Show JUDGE A A LAW fai CALLED I 1 FD BY DEATH aj 1 ra A i judge albert A law of 0 the first judicial district died at ills his home lit in logan friday evening march a at t i after an illness which had been sapping his vitality tor for a number ot of years the report stated that the end came peacefully hild and judge law was conscious up to the tha very last As an evidence of 0 his nien mental condition judge law signed a number ot of legal documents during the day a and nd they were dropped into the mail box and received by attorneys in this city the morning following his demise during ills his short term as district judge judge law made a great many friends in this county ills his physical condl condition tion made it impossible for him to participate in social life to any great degree so that lie he met and mada mad a most of his friends lit in the court room ilis his kindly manner gentle spirit antl anil sympathetic attitude drew people to him and sympathy flowed out to him ir fr a stream because of his affliction lit in order that he mi might ht conserve ills his energies judge law purchased a home lit in this city and during the hold anig dig of court here he be and ills hia good wife made their home in hi it the last time he sat on the bench in this city lie he became so weakened dby by the exertion tion that lie he collapsed at tile the end of the sitting and when urged to give up and return home he be calmly told the court attaches that he would be all right and would proceed with his work judge law was back on oil the bench the next day and completed the business on oil the calendar all the attorneys speak in fit terms ft et appreciation of him as a jurist and 1 there is mourning w in legal circles us as r well as among his wide circle joffri ot irl edg at his passing J judge d gew 1 iv ai bor A aramise ara jise cache county january 3 1872 lie IT was educated duca educated ted lit in the public schools cf that town and the brigham young college ills his first occupation was that of a school teacher in the cou county which profession lie he left to enter the mercantile business at la platta colu colo front from colorado he went to bingham where lie he worked as a miner for a number of years coming coining to cache cabe county to farm ile he was appointed a deputy lit in the county clerks office where he began the study of law judge law had an unusual record as a jurist and lawyer which was made more remarkable by the fact that lie he never studied at a law school his law studies were by correspondence while working as deputy county clerk and following three years of this chis application lie he was admitted to the bar in in utah ile he had practiced in logan ever since he served four years a as S county attorney and a num number berof of years as city attorney ot of logan ile he was elected district judge on the can ticket in the landslide of 0 1920 receiving the greatest plurality ever given a candidate in the first judicial district he was a candidate for or district judge in 1916 but was defeated judge law had taken a prominent part lit in politics he was a lifelong republican and was elected county attorney on the republican ticket in 1908 and ad 1910 but in 1912 he entered the ranks of the progressives Progress ives going back to the republican old fold in 1916 when that party placed him on the ticket for or the judgeship judge law married sarah james of 0 paradise in 1898 and is survived by her and four children bessie bert helon helen and melvin funeral services are being held bodoy at the logan ta tabernacle er |
