Show THE HIGH SCHOOL DRAMA the dom box elder high school dramatic club presents viggo victor tile the private secretary so read the printed program and the presentation took place tuesday evening at the high school auditorium before be tore a pretty well filled house ot of patrons of 0 the county school the play had previously been presented before the student body that mr air victor scored a hit would be stating it very mildly he made a i home run every time he appeared on oil the scene anait and it kept him hustling to keep out of 0 the way ot of the other members ot of the cast tor for they faithfully lived up to the press notice that it was quite impossible to selecta select a star from among them tor for the simple reason that they were each and every one an individual star topping the list was mr victor as a natural consequence and hi his s work was that of 0 a finished artist in tact fact we have seen attempts at characterization by many would be stars on the professional which suffered much in comparison with that given by this young man tuesday evening never once did he forget the eccentricities of 01 part pare and the sidesplitting hilarity which his antics generated among the audience phaze him one bit he just kept hept steadily at his job of producing laugh upon laugh byron jeppson as big bluff and rough douglas cattermole sr was a scream also lie ile read his lines with excellent diction and ramped around true to the part his make up tone ot of voice and general demeanor was an almost exact reproduction ot of bishop P N pierce of 0 penrose sir mr scott horsley had a fine character part also and acquitted himself handsomely lve ve are willing to wag er tha scott never was intoxicated in his life but he put over the drunk bit of his part like a professional lie he maintained the peculiarities of 0 an english tailor both as to bro brogue gue and manner like one to the ilanor born eugene wixom had an easy part for or him of 0 making himself agreeable to the young ladies and cuddling them at every opportunity eugene is a past master at making love as evidenced by his recent marrlee ge and it never even made him catch his breath to enfold miss bliss preston in lili his arms and implant in a lingering kiss upon her rosy lips hark nichols was the same cons clentious young man on the stage that he Is oft off and gave an all interpretation ot of the tha part of harry marsland young sport in love with eva miss veoma holmgren that was all that could be desired his diction was excellent sir air delbert as the sedate john marsland who wished to forget his past pranks did some excellent work and displayed a thorough appreciation of the part that was very pleasing to te see mr air was shut out ot of mo most st ot of the rollicking features in which so 0 o many 0 of the other members of 0 the cast starred but he maintained the poise which the character demanded and fit in perfectly mr air frank shelby was irrepressible as knox the summons server who always came when he was not wanted he was one of the punctuation marks of the production which are sible to the success 0 of the show milton walker as john the english butler looked the part in liis his brass buttons and livery milton never missed a line and got a laugh to boot miss bliss myrtle lillywhite did some fine character work as is the good english landlady who had trouble with her renters and later trouble with the bluff cattermole senior her little play with the last named individual in the first act was a scream and the audience furnished the scream miss leda call calf had a penchant for spiritualism and because of the eccentricities tri cities ettles of the character a maiden of advanced advanced y years ea I 1 rs had a very difficult I 1 1 ve I e to interpret but whether the medium functioned or not she continued to sep see things in her own way and finally demonstrated that a medium aum ium even can eat ham sandwiches misses vera preston and veoma Ho holmgren lingren the sweet young things of the cast looked good enough to bite handsomely bowne gowned vivacious and ana constantly at the leash fig natively uati liati vely speaking ahey hey made a stunning pair which no young man could be blamed tor for tailing falling in love with the hearts ot of some of the more aged 11 men were speeded up a bit and the young ladies were tile the cynosure of all eyes whenever they appeared 1 the production was a delight from start to finish and revealed the tact fact that the high school need not import outside talent on its lyceum course to furnish dramatics the home made product is more than good enough it Is a better than the imported article and the work ot of the dramatic club reflects the splendid labor miss cornwall has been doing at the high school during the past two years more of 0 that kind ot of entertainment would be a splendid thing tor for this community and because all the patrons patrols of the high school could not come to this city to see the drama it would be only fair to take the company on the road and present the play in various places throughout the valley |
