The writer knows of one place w)iere a cigar is sold for 85 cents, while the same cigar may be bought not far away for 25 cents. The man who sells the 85 cent cigar would not believe this statement until he was convinced at the cost of a box of cigars. He bet that the cigar in question ques-tion could not be obtained for 25 cents at retail. The other man led him around the corner to a rival and proved that it could be bought for just that amount The winner of the bet was maliciously jocose, too, for he proposed that the loser buy the cigars in the rival shop, eince they would cost him so much more in his own store.
