At yesterday afternoon's session of the county court. Assessor James E. Hall submitted the a sessment rolls for 1895, showing total valuation of tbe taxable property of the county to be $7,418 030, exclusive of railroads, telegraph, tele-graph, telephone and electric light companies to be ussi-ssed by the terri torial board of equalization. Based upon this report, after mush calculation, discussion and consideration considera-tion as to the probable needs of the county, consistent with strict economy, the court fixed the rate of county tax for 1895, at 2 mills; county school tax at li mills. Monday, Julv 15tb, was fixed as date of meeting of the court as a board of equalization. The time of court this morning was taken up in the hearing and auditing of the accounts of justices of the peace and other county oftieers. Coroner Berg reported the inquest held over B. Jensen, the man found dead in Hobble Creek canyon, near Springville. Clerk Jones reported the expenditure of Mb contingent fund, $8 90 on hand. Treasurer Wride reported re-ported the condition of his office, $4S2.45 cash on hand. This afternoon the court is looking into some claims lor services and other expenses incurred in the attempt to UDSOlve the Pelican Point murder ur.ystery and considering how best to proceed further with the investigation and what aid financial and otherwise had best be given the sheriff. |
