The following business was transacted tran-sacted at last night'a session of the city council. Application of Frank Carter for retail re-tail liquor license (Duggin's saloon) was granted subject to approval of bonds by the mayor. A long list of petitions asking for transfer of deeds, correcting of deeds, etc., to cemetery lota were read and disposed of. The recordet presented a list of thirty odd names of persons who had given him satisfactory evidence of ownership of lots but held no deeds and whose title ib not on record, lle-ferred lle-ferred to the committee on cemetery. Assessor llall'd report showed: Taxable Tax-able personal property in the city assessed as-sessed at $341,630; real estate $1,518.-250 $1,518.-250 railroads, telegraph and telephone lines (estimate, samri as last year) $62,080, total $l,yi2.0l0. .Referred to committee on linance, II. J. MaiDen.petitioned for privilege to use Rraes growing in Uity ParK lot (ntar Tanner's) for keeping fences, gates, etc,, in repair. Report refeired to committee on nuance to be audited. The superintendent superin-tendent also reported system in good repair. Thirty-five new takers have been connect with prospects of many more juet as soon as financial strain eases BUtlicient to permit them. There are now 283 takers on the eysiem. The committee on streets and alleys reported re-ported recoma ending that tfirst street be opened east.of M to county road by October 20th. Adopted. Ihe committee on judiciary recom mended the passage of the ordinance establishing a hack stand on east side J street between Sixth and Seventh striking out the clause permitting draymen, drivers of hacks, coaches, express ex-press wagons, etc., to tie elsewhere by getting written permission of the mayor and consent ot occupant of store or building. The bill passed its second sec-ond reading and will come up for final passage at next session. An ordinance to regulate and control con-trol cemetery waterworks extension was passed and referred to the committee com-mittee on engrossing and printing. Ghaiiman Halladay of committee on streets and alleya was authorized to purchase hay and oats for city teams and city estray pound for ensuing year. The city pest house grounds now planted to luceren were ordered surveyed sur-veyed and the corners established.
