Show I First District Court. Hearing of the caBe of Tuttle vs. Marks was continued before Judge King on Saturday evening. The jury returned a verdict for Mrs. Marks, no cause of action. this morning. Hearing of the demurrers in the Hague cases was postponed until Thursday next at 10 o'cIock. The case of the People vs. Louis Madsen and Charles Lu'id went to trial. The defendants are accused of robbery, of haying taken six silver dollars from on 3 John Barrett in a saloon at the Detroit Mining district, on the eveHlng of December 26th last. D. D. Houtz appeared for defendants. Prosecuting Attorney Judd and his assistant as-sistant Joseph .Richards appeared for the people. The evidence developed the fact that all parties to the scrimmage were very drunk, and had been so for two days. It is intimated that prior to the one during which it was alleged money was taken troni Barrett there were numerous numer-ous Ecraps, in one of which Barrett used a knife on Slewart, superintendent superinten-dent of the Ibex mine. It was a little difficult for the jury to extract from the evidence given just where the greatest blame lies, and who ought and who ought not to be punished, pun-ished, particularly who ought not. Both Madsen and Lund were declared de-clared to be not guilty of the offense of robbing by verdict of the jury. They will be Bent back to the Juab county jail to complete the sentence imposed upon them for fighting. |
