Show A GRAND FINALE. New Officers of the Masonic Grand Lodge. MAGNIFICENT BANQUET Given by the Story Lodsre at Whicfi "Wit, Humor, 'Wisdom and General Good Will Are Expressed Closed With Pathos Pa-thos and Sentimental Sing-in?. The twenty third annual communication communi-cation of the Utah Grand Lodge of Free Masons has convened and adjourned. ad-journed. A most profitable and bene ticial session indeed has it been. At last evening's eession the appoint ive officers were named, and all the officers, both elective and appointive, were installed. Rev. LaVake offered the initiatory prayer of the insta lation and also the closing prayer at the adjournment ad-journment ot the grand lodge. ' The present officers of the grand lodge are: Right Worshipful Grand Master Dr. A. S. Chapman. Deputy Right Worshipful Grand; and in ether places was ehcouraged. After this discussion, Col. John L. Bartow was called to respond to the toast, "The Press," and the toast-mas-tei told a humorous story "one on the Methodist preacher" and called upon Rev. LaVake to answer, choosing his otvn subject. The minister was equal to the occasion, and set the entire company com-pany to laughing so heartily at his wit that for a time each and everv man's side was actually sore. The reverend gentleman closed with a beautiful peroration full of christian sympathy and chanty, dwelling sweetly upon the immortality of man, and his future communion with God, the Grand Master of them all. With a verse of "Auld Lang Serie" and the song "Home Sweet Home" sung with vim, spirit and deep feeling the company dispersed. |
