He did not like to hear people talk of the soldier as 'a pauper. He wanted to bay that in the pension to the soldiers they were only receiving half of what they ouht to have. He wauted the G. A. The doctor said that their was no class of men that lay as near his heart as dj the old soidieie, and tuat he wished he could pU6h ;opea the Heavenly gates wide enough to receive all of them. He was aware Qf the tact that he had a 9 hard job on his hands, but he was wil-1 line to try it. At the age of fifteen he left home to defend the old flag. He loved all countries, but he loved America Amer-ica the best. He loved the people of Provo. He wauted them to be true to each other, and th9 flag that made them free. F. F. Bee then sang a Solo, "Hero Bold." After which a general good time was enjoyed by all. Dr. "Iliff standing on tbe pulpit railing wayed the old flag over the heads of the old soldier and the whole audience joined in singing sing-ing "Marching Through Georgia."
