Show A SPHERIO DISPLAY. The Baseball Season is Formally Openad. When Srovvnell Stole His Base a Waterspout Descnded. Monday afternoon the baseball season sea-son wh3 inaugurated tt Provo public square by a game of ball played between be-tween two city nines, who facetiously called themselves the Fat and Lean champions of Southern Utah. There was not a very large audience present, pres-ent, owing to the fact that tiie game had iiot been advertised. The players did not seem to have much trouble in picking out an umpire, and an official scorer was easily procured. The Fats secured choice of positions, and took the field.' Tom Osborne wielded the sphere for the fielders, in the first iunings, but the Leans caught on to his delivery and landed six runs. In the last half of this innings, while the Fats were to the bat, a ripple of excitement occurred when Rrownell, the candy man, faced the Leans' pitcher. The first two balls delivered him happened to be decidedly off, but upon the appearance of the third a decided decid-ed down curve, Rrownell struck out from both shoulders. The ball disappeared dis-appeared in the heavens, and the outfield out-field vainly sought for it. It was discovered dis-covered afterward that it had descended descen-ded upon the head of a mule in a pasture at Payson and fractured the animal's skull. The game progressed until close, mainly marked by the excellent ex-cellent playing of the Fat's left-fieldei and tli8 Lean's second baseman. We append: THE SCORE.
