Show EAGER FOR THE FRAY. Provo's Singers Getting in Trim for the Coming Contest. The Fourth ward vocalists, under the direction of Mr. J. R. Boshard, are getting ready for the interesting musi-caleyent musi-caleyent which will tale place in the Salt Lake Tabernacle on the evening of the first Monday in June, under the auspices of the "Young Men's Mutual Improvement Associations."' It will consist of a singing contest. To the best chorus of twenty-live male voices, all members of one ward or association, associa-tion, will be awarded the handsome sum of $200, the best sixteen $100, . to the best eight $75, and to the quartette quar-tette $50.00. The best duet will receive re-ceive $25 and the best single baritone, or bass, $15, with $10 for the second; tbe bent totior- with 10 socond. There Is a fair cliancc, in all. for sixty young men to win a prize as a share. The contest will be all the' more interesting and beneficial in this respect; it will probably bring to light new talent and be the means oi inducing those with good voices to carefully train tliem. The prizes, which amount in the aggregate to $500.00,are offered by the"Contributor" Company, and most of the pieces to be sang are published in that excellent magazine. The object in view is to encourage the young men to organize singing clubs in every association. |
