Thursday, October 8, 2009 Gunnison Valley Senior Citizens (The Recycled Teenagers) by REED ROBERTS GVHS Karot Royalty • 1968 Jed Christenson and Kathy Sorenson, Karot King and Queen Sponsored by HERMANSEN’S MILL 204 South 1st East • Gunnison 528-3136 Feeds • Grain Storage • Fertilizer Seeds • Farm Supplies • Chemicals The Gunnison Valley Senior Citizens had a very enjoyable and successful breakfast and fundraiser on September 21 at Maple Grove campground. Sixty seniors enjoyed a breakfast of ham, eggs, pancakes, hash browns, hot chocolate and juice. The weather was comfortable with a sweater or light jacket, and the leaves were just gorgeous. Following the breakfast the raffle tickets were drawn and the prizes were given out to those winners who were present. The other prizes were brought home and the lucky winners were called and notified of their prizes. We, the Gunnison Valley Seniors, cannot thank those supporting businesses enough for their generosity in donating the prizes for this fundraiser. In the middle of drawing for the prizes, Nel Hyatt was surprised with a plaque in recognition for the many acts of service she has rendered and continues to render to the Senior Citizen Organization. Congratulations and thanks for all you do. On Saturday September 26, a group of seniors went on a trip over the Nebo Loop to look at the pretty leaves and enjoy an outing together. They reported it was an enjoyable trip. The activity for October will be a potluck dinner on Monday evening October 19 at 6 p.m. This activity will be held at the Centerfield City Hall (in the American Legion side). Soup, chili, breadsticks, and crackers will be furnished. Bring a potluck dish and your own dishes, including a soup bowl. There is no charge for these potluck dinners. Entertainment will follow the dinner.
