Show Thursday, November 27, 2008 Schools The Gunnison Valley Gazette Together We are Strong Page 5 Do Your Best by SHAWN GUBELI GVHS Student Body Historian This past week, November 18th - 20th, the Student Body Officers and 25 other student leaders at Gunnison Valley High School went to the elementary school to teach the students about bullying. The high school students read stories and explained to the younger students why bullying is not good and how to prevent it. All the kids got really involved and excited about it. Each day they learned something new that would help them understand their differences and be more tolerant of one another. Cooperation and team work were encouraged as well. On the last day, they went to every class in the school and gave each of the kids a strip of colored paper, had them put their name on it and then each class Do Your Best is sponsored by: Mark Henline/Gunnison Valley Gazette GVHS Student Body Officers along with some GVES students with the chain that they made. made a paper chain. The different colored papers were to symbolize that each of us is different and unique and that they all need to stand together to make their school a better place. The individual chains were connected to the others to create one long continuous chain. The theme was, “Together we are Strong!” The student leaders at GVHS were appreciative of the opportunity of working with the young kids at the elementary and look forward to follow-up workshops at the beginning of the new year.
