Show Opinions Page 2 Twilight Just A Thought By MARK HENLINE Not since Luke married Laura or Patrick Swayze saved Baby from the corner in Dirty Dancing has a movie generated so much excitement in the fairer sex. The movie Twilight opened nationwide on Friday to sell-out crowds and was the number one movie at the box office generating a reported 70 million dollars over the weekend. Twilight opened in Gunnison Thursday night at midnight to a sell-out crowd. Tickets were pre-sold for the midnight show weeks in advance. Even though the tickets were presold, many ticket holders lined up well in advance to be the first ones in. The first four in line arrived at 3:00 in the afternoon. The movie continued to bring in the crowds all weekend with near sell-outs at all showings. The movie Twilight is based on the New York Times bestselling book Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. The story is about a family of vampires who live in Washington State. The Gunnison Valley Gazette Unlike most vampires, these vampires live on animal blood and do their best to leave humans alone. They are all beautiful and handsome and are very rich. The story centers around the main characters Edward, who is a vampire and Isabella, his human girlfriend. It tells of their relationship and the troubles that can happen when a human dates a vampire. Especially Edward’s constant desire he has to sink his teeth into Bella’s neck and drink all her blood. But killing the main character usually isn’t a good way to end the movie. Twilight will be playing at the Casino Star Theatre through December 11th. Remember ladies, it’s only a movie! THANKS TO THOSE WHO MAKE THIS VALLEY A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE “Appreciation unexpressed is not appreciation.” So at this season of Thanksgiving I would like to express my appreciation for my many blessings. I am grateful to live in this valley where we have people like Lori Nay and Diana Spencer; who worked so hard, to see their dreams of the show house restoration being realized. It’s great to have the theatre reopened with its new improvements and good shows. The new landscaping adds so much to the walkway. Thanks again to all who helped with this beautification project. I’m thankful for the dedicated “Hero’s” in our community, those who care about others and respond to such emergencies as the school bus accident last month. I am appreciative of the dedicated school teachers and administrators, who teach, instruct and bring out the best in our children and grandchildren. The recent theatrical and musical staff we have in this valley, also the lovely park and swimming pool, church and the nice school buildings. The new Town Hall in Fayette is surely a welcome and nice addition to our town. Thanks to all those people who contributed their time and means to make this possible. I appreciate the dedicated community and church leaders, the service clubs, church groups and scouts who work hard to make this the special valley it is. Our beautiful majestic mountains and breathtaking sunsets are just some of nature’s blessings we can see and enjoy. I am thankful for the Gunnison Gazette with the pictures and news of people in our valley. It also gives us an opportunity to express ourselves, and I just want to say “Thanks” and let others know of my appreciation for all they do to make this valley a great place to live. I think that we should try as hard as we can, using the most effective and efficient methods possible to get the benzene out of their home and businesses. That would HERMANSEN’S MILL be a great accomplishment. 204 South 1st East • Gunnison 528-3136 Feeds • Grain Storage • Fertilizer Seeds • Farm Supplies • Chemicals Sincerely, Garrett Sorensen Boy Scout Come take a horse drawn wagon ride thru Christmas Land and a live Nativity.
