Show Page 8 The Gunnison Valley Gazette Public Notice NOTICE OF SPECIAL BOND ELECTION BOARD OF EDUCATION OF SOUTH SANPETE SCHOOL DISTRICT SANPETE COUNTY, UTAH PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a special bond election will be held in South Sanpete School District, Sanpete County, Utah (the “School District”), at the same time as the regular primary election, on Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at which special bond election there shall be submitted to the qualified, registered voters residing within the School District the following question: BOARD OF EDUCATION OF SOUTH SANPETE SCHOOL DISTRICT SANPETE COUNTY, UTAH SPECIAL BOND ELECTION PROPOSITION # 1 Shall the Board of Education of South Sanpete School District, Sanpete County, Utah, be authorized to issue general obligation bonds in an amount not to exceed $30,000,000 and to mature in no more than 30 years from the date or dates of issuance of such bonds for the purpose of raising money for purchasing one or more school sites, buildings and furnishings and improving existing school property under the charge of the Board of Education, and, to the extent necessary, for providing moneys for the refunding, at or prior to the maturity thereof, of general obligation bonds of the Board authorized hereunder or heretofore issued and now outstanding? Notice of Property Tax Increase Due to Bond Issuance Passage of the proposition means that the tax on a $150,000 residence in the School District would increase $339.01 per year ($150,000 being the estimated average value of a residence in the School District). The tax on a $150,000 business in the School District would increase $616.39 per year ($150,000 being the value of a business having the same value as the estimated average value of a residence in the School District). The foregoing information is only an estimate of tax increases and is not a limit on the amount of taxes that the Board of Education may be required to levy in order to pay debt service on the bonds. The Board will be obligated to levy taxes without limitation as to rate or amount in order to pay the bonds, as provided by law. The amounts are based on various assumptions and estimates, including estimated debt service on the bonds and taxable values of property in the School District. The special bond election shall be held at the voting precincts of Sanpete County in which qualified voters of the District reside, at the following polling places, and the election officials to serve at each such polling place shall be those who have been otherwise appointed under the provisions of general law to conduct the regular primary election.
