Show Thursday, June 19, 2008 The Gunnison Valley Gazette Summer soccer Not just for kids With the spring youth soccer program having great success, Gunnison Valley Recreation is inviting all adults to come see why there kids love the sport so much. Adults can play at the practice field behind the middle school on Wednesdays starting the 18th at 7 p.m. till dark. There will be a full-length field and two small-sided 3v3 or 4v4 fields for pick up games. Bring a friend, wife/husband, or coworker out to play. The equipment you need to bring is shinguards, white and dark colored shirt, and cleats (not essential) without a toe cleat. Give Jaron Jensen a call 528-5293 if you have any questions about high school or adult soccer. The girls’ high school Courtesy Photo program has already started to have practices on Mondays and Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. till the tryouts on August 4th. The girls coming out are already much improved over last year. The youth and high school athletes are invited to register for a camp held by profession- HEAP WEEK als from England June 23-27th for a few hours each morning. There is a fee and you need to contact Diane Johnson 5287609 for further information before it is too late. Keep your ears open because the program is looking at having a few traveling teams go to Salina and Richfield during their seasons. James Park of the Page 7 Local dancers compete at Lagoon Dancers from The Danz Dimensions Studio in Gunnison, as well as 20 studios from Utah and Idaho, traveled to Lagoon Amusement Park to compete in the U.S.A. Dance Championships on Friday June 6th, 2008. The dancers had a fun time competing and spending the day enjoying rides. Kaylee Dyreng, Tea Elmer and Neriah Gregerson competed in the Pre/K Tap division and Mekenzie Olsen, Kaylee Jensen and Kylee Machuta competed in the Pre/K Ballet division. Both classes took home 1st place honors. Ryleigh Jensen and Kaylee Hill took home a 2nd place win in the 4th - 6th grade Lyrical division. Anna Costa, Tiana Caro, Sierra Mangum, Giselle Gutierrez and Kira Curtis competed in the 1st - 3rd grade Mini Jazz division and won 3rd place. Kasey Bartholomew, Ashley Dye and Kyra Russell took 3rd place in the 7th - 9th grade Jazz division and then they were joined by Kayla Dye to compete in the 7th grade and up division of Hip Hop with a Stomp routine and took home 4th place. The Danz Dimension Studio is now gearing up for summer classes. Classes will be held as mini camps and will run 3 to 4 days in a row.
