This event is sponsored by the Utah Health Care Association. The pageant’s theme this year was “Thanks for the Memories” and was held in the South Towne Expo Center in Sandy on Tuesday, September 25. Nettie was the first resident from Mayfield Community Care Center to enter the pageant. She did a great job and had a wonderful time. Both of Nettie’s sons with their wives and four granddaughters attended the pageant along with Bill and Cindy Peterson and Carma Sorensen from the care center. They all enjoyed a very nice luncheon after the pageant. Nettie received a trophy and a special plaque signed by the governor for her participation in the pageant. October 5th won’t be any ordinary casual Friday in Sanpete County. “Kith and Kin Who Care” which is comprised of Sanpete County real estate professionals, will be participating in National Denim Day and invite all residents of Sanpete County to join in. The denim worn on this day will not only be worn for comfort, but it will also make a powerful statement for an important cause. As Lee National Denim Day moves into its twelfth year, Coldwell Banker Professional Realty, Heritage Realty Group, and Aspen Leaf Realty, along with their kith and kin (friends, associates and relatives) are gearing up to participate in their first year of the grassroots program which has raised more than $66 million for breast cancer research. Participants are encouraged to wear denim in exchange for a $5 contribution to the Women’s Mildred Duggins, who was born on October 12, 1917, will be celebrating her 90th birthday with an open house at her home. The open house will be Saturday, October 13th from 1 to 3 in the afternoon at the Duggins home located at 150 East 200 South in Gunnison. Mildred has requested that there be no gifts please. “Kith and Kin Who Care” will put their own twist to Lee National Denim Day by hosting a brunch at the Ephraim Co-op from 10:00am to noon to commemorate their fundraising accomplishments and further the message of the importance of early detection. Anyone and everyone are invited to attend and participate in this worthwhile effort. All residents of Sanpete County are encouraged to participate. News has been circulating throughout the valley that Bonnie Roberts, formerly Bonnie Hovinghoff, was killed in an auto accident in Salt Creek Canyon. We are happy to report that despite news to the contrary, Bonnie is alive and doing well in Centerfield. Open House Cancer Programs of the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF). Funds will be used to support a groundbreaking scientific project to detect breast cancer in its earliest stage.
