If we failed to deliver an invitation please accept this as one. sanpetemessenger.com Prestwich~Congdon Robert Eugene Beck, 75, of Gunnison, passed away March 16, 2005, in Gunnison. He was born Dec. 19, 1929, in Centerfield to Newman Joseph and Stella Patrina Myrup Beck. He married Margery Jane Nielson, June 29, 1951 in the Manti Utah Temple. She preceded him in death Dec. 15, 1995. Our loving father passed away in his home after persevering through numerous health complications. He has been an example of strength and courage to all of us. He was a member of the LDS Church where he served as a teacher, high priest group presidency, home teacher and executive secretary to the bishop. He and his wife Margery served faithfully on the Old Folks Party Committee for 17 years. Robert was a member of the Gunnison JayCees. He received a Gunnison High School Alumni Distinguished Service Award. He served on the Gunnison zoning committee and was a Boy Scout merit badge counselor. He loved sports, old westerns, traveling, music and dancing and being surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his children, Kathryn Jane (John) Gledhill, Nephi; Annette (Richard) Dyreng, Gunnison; Claudia (Bard) Hill, Orem; Pamela (Kent) Jeremy Congdon and Natalie Prestwich Grandparents of the bride are Don Prestwich, Moroni; Norma Bigler, Indianola; John & Sandra Bigler, Mt. We love and appreciate all of you. It is so hard to let our loved one go. We know dad was ready to meet her again, after having been married for 78 years. We have an apology to make to a daughter-in-law, Glenna Hansen. Mrs. Junior Hansen who has always been an important part of the Lester and Alice Hansen family. Somehow her name, along with a very important son-in-law, E. Gayle Hansen, were left out of mom’s obituary. For this we are very sorry. We send our love and thanks to everyone at this sad time. Gayle and Joye Hansen Family Alan and Dee Ann Allred Family Junior and Glenna Hansen Family Hasegawa Teruko, 23, left this world prematurely on March 10, 2005. Teruko came to America as an exchange student, but was to be considered a member of the Anderson family of Mayfield, who loved her as their own. Her American brothers and sister are; Ryan Anderson, Darin Anderson, and Randi & Robbie Sylvester; grandparents are Kennard and Glade Anderson of Gunnison, and Evan and Grace Peterson of Mayfield. She was especially fond of her niece and nephew Mckinlee and Braxon Sylvester as well as all of her many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Teruko loved family parties, going on vacations with her family and friends, shopping will her mother, wearing pointed heeled shoes, and hanging out with her friends. Teruko came to America when she was 8 years old. She graduated from Gunnison Valley High School and was attending Salt Lake Community College, where all who knew her loved her. Family and friends recall Teruko as being a friend to everyone. She lived life to the fullest, spreading happiness and Larsen, Gunnison; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dona (Frank) Cooley, Cedar City; Ruth (Harold) Christiansen, Mayfield; sisters-in-law, Karma Lee (Duane) Beck, Centerfield; Carol Beck, Kaysville, and special friend, LaRae Johnson, Mt. Pleasant. He was preceded in death by parents; wife, Margery; brothers, Cyril, Weldon, Woodrow, Duane, Garth; son-in-law, Ross Fredrickson, and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, March 21 at noon at the Gunnison Stake Center. Burial was in the Gunnison City Cemetery under the direction of Magleby-Jensen Mortuary. She truly saw the good in others and was honest, sincere, and willing to give all she could to help anyone in need. Teruko was a sweet, beautiful girl who was loved dearly and will be missed greatly. There is a special place in our hearts for her. Memorial services were held in her honor on Wednesday, March 16 at the Mayfield Ward chapel. Her parents, Yoshihiko Saito, and Nanako Hasegawa attended the service and returned with her to Japan where interment services will take place. sanpetemessenger.com Jeanette Sorenson Larsen Jeanette Sorenson Larsen died on Sunday, March 13, 2005 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, Utah. Jeanette was born Jan. 8, 1913 to Thomas Balle Sorenson and Nettie May Miller in Ephraim. She lived much of her life in Ephraim, where she raised her four children and helped her husband, John C. Larsen, with farm work. With the advent of World War II, Jeanette joined the workforce by sewing parachutes at the Manti factory. She continued as a seamstress for the rest of her life, working at plants in Manti, Salt Lake City, and Southern California. Jeanette was widowed in 1952 and soon after left Ephraim in search of employment. She returned to Utah four years ago to live with her children. Jeanette spent the last year in Crestview Care Center. Jeanette is survived by four children, Betty (Boyd) Hansen, Spring City; Janice Reynolds, Moline, Ill.; John (Carolyn), Lindon, and Nancy Zamora, Shoreline, Wash. Her posterity includes 18 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, Manti girl wins Centennial Miss EPHRAIM—Elizabeth Coltharp-Hart, 11, of Manti has won the Centennial Miss division of the Liberty Utah pageant held in American Fork on March 5. Coltharp-Hart also won Best Personality and the Talent division. The competition included a patriotic poster. ColtharpHart’s poster focused on her experiences with the National Guard, families and military service. She will be competing in the state pageant in April. Coltharp-Hart is the daughter of Jason and Tara Hart of Manti. Her grandmother Elizabeth Coltharp-Hart is Dianne Chandler of Manti. Kathleen Peli of Ephraim choreographed Coltharp-Hart’s dance.
