Show new lenses not needed by utah motor owners 0 during the past few days motor ests have been put to consider considerable ablO trouble in regulating their head lights to comply with the new law for night driving writes W D rishel secretary ot of the utah state automobile association in the tri bune there appears to be a dif ference of opinion among the motorists and some of the officers as to the exact interpretation of the law regarding the necessity of using special lenses and the holding of a certificate to the effect that the head lights have been passed by an author iced testing station upon the ad v vise ise of legal counsel the utah state automobile association wishes to in form its members that it Is not feces sary to have a certificate to comply with the law f fhe he clear lens can be adjusted to comply with the law an I 1 the owner of the car can do this work himself and be within the meaning of the law the officers of the law have taken the stand how ever that they will in all cases ac capt a certificate of adjustment as proof that the headlights are cor eor 1 erectly adjusted the clear lens can be adjusted to comply with the law in spite of what those of the official testing stations may say to the contrary or contrary to the instructions issued by some of the officers of the law again it may not be advisable to use the lights after they have been so ad lusted because special lenses in many instances would give a much better driving light this however Is for the driver to decide as he Is within the law in using his clear lenses anses for his own comfort how ever special lenses are recommend ed the automobile association would deem it a favor it if its mem bers hers would report all efforts on the part of the adjusting stations tol tol force them to buy lenses it if they don f desire to do so also the refusal of my any adjusting station to issue a tor for clear lenses |
