Show independence day was very fittingly observed 0 eureka s independence day cele bration was carried out in a pleasing and appropriate manner on monday the exercises starting with a parade at 10 0 clock and ending with a grand ball in the evening claude F baker acted as marshal of the day and the parade consisted of former service men in uniform the eureka band members of the tire fire depart ment school children and auto mobiles after the parade there was a pro gram at the crescent theatre P J bonner the chairman of the general committee for the celebration ing A brief talk was made by mayor james hanley miss lovendahl of salt lake read the declaration of independence and musical numbers were given by mrs mary dark clark sul livan and a quartette composed of walter Christo pherson ralph firth thomas and neil 0 hare the band also furnished a couple of numbers the afternoon was given over to sports there was an excellent ball game and a free dance for the chil dren later in the evening the races contests etc being carried out on main ain street the dance in the even ing was well attended and the entire celebration while not an elaborate one was an appropriate observance of the greatest of all holidays 0 |
