It did not disappoint,” he wrote on his blog. This was Rauschenberg’s 81st marathon, but he had many good things to say about the race. “Overall, it is really hard to get more bang for your buck than at this race. I was really impressed with how this first-year race was run. Kudos to all involved with is preparation and execution,” he reported. Organizers also received positive comments on the half marathon. John Close, from Salt Lake City said, “It’s hard to believe that was the inaugural race. It was clearly a race that was set up by runners for runners. Overall it was nearly perfect and much better than any first race has a right to be.” Alisa Black, of Price stated, “This is perhaps the best half marathon I have ever raced! This was my sixth ‘half’ this year and it is now my favorite. The course was perfect, the support crews were amazing.” Huffaker echoed the gratitude for the support crews and volunteers. “The support from the volunteers was amazing. We owe a huge thanks to Sheriff Guymon and his posse, the CEU Prehistoric Museum, Carbon and Emery counties, and also the many local businesses for their donations,” he said. Those who enjoyed the races will be pleased to know that organizers plan to hold the event again in 2009. Huffaker commented, “As the race directors, we had a great time hosting this event. It takes a lot of time and hard work to organize, but Race Day makes it all worth it. We love meeting the participants and feeling their enthusiasm and excitement. We look forward to making the Little Grand Canyon Marathon a yearly tradition.” Results Marathon Men: Dane Rauschenberg James Winfield 3:10:28 Siming Li 3:10:29 3:05:28 Women: Miriam Schumann 3:40:03 Krisann Rigby 3:41:31 Mary Wells 3:49:33 Half Marathon Men: Matthew Bonner 1:34:59 William Nielsen 1:36:17 Mark Vlasic 1:36:26 Women: Arica Scheetz 1:37:02 Bekki Manville 1:40:24 Laura Lingeman 1:42:41 10K Men: Joshua Taylor 0:48:40 Doug Mackay 0:49:33 Bruce Schumann 0:54:35 Women: Ashley Bracken 0:53:40 Carrie Simpson 0:53:49 Angie Greene 0:54:02 2008 Activity Calendar Every Tuesday 7:00 p.m. Val Jensen’s Live Band October 2nd Thursday Come join us for square dancing in the arcade 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A $5.00 special will be offered October 25th Saturday Spooks, Kids Cooking Class 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. $10.00 includes apron, hat and materials Must pre-register for class by the 10th of the month November 6th Thursday Come join us for square dancing in the arcade 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A $5.00 special will be offered November 22nd Saturday Giving Thanks cooking class and activity 10:00 a.m. $10.00 includes apron, hat and materials Must pre-register for class by the 10th of the month December 4th Thursday Come join us for square dancing in the arcade 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A $5.00 special will be offered December 20th Saturday Santa Party 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. Come have breakfast with Santa and build a Christmas house $5.00 a person bring the whole family 435-687-STAR (7827) 155 N Main Huntington, UT Monday thru Saturday 11:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. Star Theatre Fun Center & Grill Photos by Josie Luke Christy’s S alon ensations “Service With A Smile” Walk-Ins Welcome or call for an Appointment Tuesday - Friday Christy Collard Katie Brady 190 So.
