Show C1 Life Is The Emery County Review, Tuesday, September 2, 2008 Swell Emery and Carbon Counties, Utah u Living in the San Rafael Swell Area u Just Peachy From golf and horse racing, to a talent show and demolition derby, Ferron prepares for annual celebration W hen Ferron City leaders prepare for the annual Peach Days Celebration one thing they don’t do is think small. In an attempt to give everyone a little something to enjoy, they throw in everything but the kitchen sink, and if someone was to find a kitchen sink entertaining, they would in all likelihood, throw it in as well. Peach Days has grown over the years until now the city offers a little something to do from Tuesday through Saturday. On Tuesday, Parade Your Pet at the Mayor’s Park proves to be a favorite for youth (and their pets) and on Thursday, the Talent Show gives everyone a chance to cheer their local favorite. The fever pitch of the celebration steps up a notch by Friday when exhibits go on display and fireworks light up the night sky at Millsite Reservoir. By the time Saturday morning dawns the question isn’t what to do, but how to do everything that is scheduled. Breakfast at the park starts things off at 7 a.m., followed by a fun run and then the start of the all-day golf tournament at Millsite Golf Course. The parade at 10 a.m. gives way to to fun and games at the Mayor’s Park with the soapbox derby begins at noon. Perhaps the highlight of the entire week takes place on Saturday afternoon as the horse races begin at 1 p.m., followed by the ever-popular demolition derby at 6 p.m. A dance closes out the festivities after the derby. By the time the week ends, if you haven’t found something to keep you entertained at Peach Days, then perhaps the kitchen sink is what you’ve been looking for.
