They have been productive citizens and served when in their communities. We have a few doctors, educators, those involved in industry, building contractors, farmers, retail merchants, real estate folks, nurses, engineers, self-employed and owning their own businesses, etc. There isn't a renegade in the bunch and I'm glad to have rubbed shoulders with them. So now we are at this stage in our lives - that part that we didn't anxiously look forward to but now facing new challenges. Maybe we thought this part would be easy. No mortgage payments or young children to look after. A little more freedom to do what we want when we want. We have some who are single again after losing a spouse. Others have health issues that limit the fulfillment of some of those dreams that we dreamed about only a few years back. I think we had around 152 graduates. We've had four classmates die since September bringing the count to 45. Since we are sneaking up on the age of 80 it's a given that those numbers will increase during the next few years. Although, I am amazed at the number of people who are living into their 90' s right here in our area and maybe some of us will make it. My Uncle Ben Roach just celebrated his 90th birthday on Jan. 15, 2010 and maybe I have some of those same genes. Life is interesting to say the least. A popular saying right now is "take life one day at a time," and because of the changes and challenges that each day brings, that's about all we can do. Sister Flora Clark of the Lake Shore 2nd ward is a very amazing lady. For the past four years she has been the humanitarian leader working with the Relief Society. She does not take this calling lightly. She has encouraged, planned, organized and completed an abundance of gatherings, events and ward projects. She collects scraps, leftovers of any kind of material or yarn or any other donation. On Jan. 9, 2010 the Relief Society had an all day project. At the end of the night her four year totals are 670 tee shirt dresses, 175 duffle bags for foster children, 304 hygiene kits for families, 5 set of wood play blocks, 52 quilts, 52 infant layettes, 37 pairs of slippers, 37 pairs of winter hats, 9 school back packs, 5 leper bandages and 33 textured blankets for blind and challenged babies. Flora's donations are sent all over the world to where ever thy may be needed. What a fun energetic lady! It isn't often that so many local farmers and ranchers are gathered in one spot as they are usually busy on the land but this day was an exception. It was a lot of fun, the food was good and the afternoon was appreciated by those in attendance. ••• We hope everyone has a Happy Valentine's Day!
