They will be hosting their first annual "Region Preview" on Jan. 13, MMHS fine arts and Elleves The Maple Mountain High School Elleves will hold their first annual "Region Preview" on Wednesday, Jan. 13, at 7 pjn. in the Maple Mountain High School gym. The Elleves will be performing their competition routines in the areas of military, dance, hip hop and kick. Also performing will be the MMHS Chamber Singers, Cheer, Dance Company and Jazz Band. There will al so be performances by the Central Utah Stars, The Dance Club, Dance Domain, Dance Expressions, Espirit de Corp Dance Studio, Heart-n-Soul,Juab High School Drill Team, Sorella region preview Dance Studio and Turning Point Dance Studio. Admission cost is $2 per person, with children age 5 and under admitted for free. Please come and support the Maple Mountain High School Elleves as they prepare for their upcoming competitions. The Elleves will compete in the Utah Valley Drill Team Competition on Jan. 9 at Alta High School and the Region VIII Drill Team Competition on Jan. 21, 2010, at Maple Mountain High School at 6 p.m. The State 4A Drill Team Competition will be on Jan. 29, 2010 at UVU, beginning at 11 a.m. Salem to host cowboy poetry symposium Brockbank Lindsay B. The students worked in groups practicing and getting ready to perform their readers' theater Christmas plays. The students did an excellent job and had a great time preforming them for their family and friends. Cowboy poets and Western musicians from Utah and surrounding states are gathering in Salem on Jan. 9 for a workshop. Cowboy poetry is rhymed, metered verse written by someone who has lived most of their life in Western North American cattle culture While traditional cowboy poetry is a spoken art form, a good portion of it exists in print. Jo Lynne Kirkwood, a teacher at North Sevier High School' in Salina uses cowboy poetry in her classroom. "Cowboy poetry is an accessible medium that even very young students can master," she said. Mallory is the junior class secretary on the SFHS student council. Her favorite classes include student council class, photography and her animal science classes. Outside of school she enjoys photography, riding horses and playing the guitar. On a road trip, Mallory would travel anywhere and would listen to a little bit of everything.
