Chorale shares holiday spirit The Nebo Chorale held its annual Christmas concert at the beginning of the December in conjunction with gathering food donations for those in our community who were in need. The concert featured the Nebo Philharmonic and the Utah Valley Handbell Choir. This year also included the ALA High School Choir with special guest, Deborah Bonner. One concert attendee said that during the concert she was able to relax from the daily stresses of the Christmas rush focus on the real meaning of the season. "With everything that I had going on I wasn't sure if I wanted to come to the concert but I am sure glad I did" said Heather Fellows. She continued by saying, "I was able to find peace and reflect on the real spirit and meaning of Christmas and 1 didn't want to leave after it was over." This was also the second annual food drive that the choir sponsored. Choir President, Kelly Williams, was uncertain how well the donations would turn out due to the economic situation but was surprised at the out pouring of generosity. "Last year we did very well with people donating food to the Utah Food Bank at our last Christmas concert so I thought that we would be below that mark this year. However, to my surprise, we did about the same if not more. People were even donating cases of canned goods!" In relating to the generosity of the concert goers, Williams said, "We have some good and generous people in Spanish Fork and surrounding community and I am proud to be from Spanish Fork." The choir will start rehearsing in January for their annual Easter concert at the Provo Tabernacle. Singing a long side the choir will be the Payson Civic Chorale, The UVU Institute Choir and the Utah Valley Children's Choir. "Rick Lunt and I sat down before Christmas to come up with an appropriate concert and we believe that we have a concert that will reflect the special spirit of Easter." Williams said. Those wishing to join the Nebo Chorale may do so by being at the first rehearsal of this choir on Jan. 12 at 7 p.m. at the ALA Middle School choir room. No audition is required but be prepared to sing a little so that the Musical Director will be able to place you where you are best needed in the choir. Men are especially encouraged to participate.
