Show Sentinel A10 • WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 5, 2009 Guardian of Your Community Neivs Hundreds participate in memorial 5K Kathleen Olsen STAFF WRITER The Mark the Great benefit 5k run was held on Saturday, Aug. 1, on the roads through Benjamin. The race was run on behalf of Mark Richardson, who died at Mountain View Hospital on Thursday, June 30, 2009. Mark's life had been one of giving to others and this was a way to repay him and his family, at least in part. More than 600 runners made the race plus the support staff, officials and sheriff's department that took care of the technical needs. In addition, onlookers lined the roads of the route while others attended ceremonies at the start and finish lines at the Benjamin Park. Some participants made the route in a short amount of time. • The overall top winners in the male division were Jeff McClellan, first, Spencer Hanson, second and Holden Adams, third. Topping off the female winners were Jennifer Hughes, first, Janice Johnson, second and Kaiston Hurst, third.
