A12 • WEDNESDAY, JUNE 24, 2009 Harlan named new principal at Canyon The Nebo Board of Education appointed David Harlan as the new principal of Canyon Elementary replacing Jeanne Baads. gaard who has recently announced her retirement. David was a classroom teacher for ten years at Wilson and Sage Creek Elementary Schools where he taught second, third and fifth grades. Mr. Harlan then spent several years as a district technology curriculum specialist, shad*ow mountain coordinator, adult education coordinator and most recently as the assistant principal at Spanish Fork Junior High. Mr. Harlan's colleagues have said, "Dave is talented, capable, energetic and well liked. He is successful with pretty much anything he gets involved with. He is pleasant, positive, polite, cooperative, and level-headed. Dave David Hartan listens well and shows compassion. He always seems to work with a goal and vision in mind and understands how important it is to involve others in that vision. Dave certainly is a breath of fresh air." David and his wife Katrina are the proud parents of six children and currently reside in Mapleton. Nebo open house planned Nebo School District invites all patrons to the Nebo School District office remodel ribbon cutting ceremony and dedication on Wednesday, July 1 at 5 p.m. at 350 south Main Street, Spanish Fork. The open house is from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. the same day. One of the biggest changes to the office building includes a board room that will hold over 200 patrons instead of 50. Patrons can come and enjoy watching students perform and present to the school board usually every month on the second Wednesday. This renovated building now has adequate offices and restroom facilities.
