On June 17, at 6:30 p.m. in UVU's Ragan Theatre, 15 giris from the Spanish Fork/Salem area performed in Spanish Fork/Salem's Junior Miss Scholarship Program, entitled "My Time to Shine." The girls competed for the title of Spanish Fork/Saiem Junior Miss, as well as thousands of scholarship dollars. The contestants were evaluated on their performances in the areas of scholastic achievement, talent, judges interview, self-expression and fitness. OF WANDS AND PIXIE DUST: Above is Kayla Christensen performing her talent, a comedic monologue called "The Fairy Godmother," author unknown. She complained of all the problems and nuances that accompanied her career as a fairy godmother, enchanting the audience that rang with laughter. Christensen achieved the title of Spanish Fork/ Salem Junior Miss 2009.
