Ottesen STAFF WRITER The Spanish Fork Junior Livestock Sho,w is touted as the oldest livestock show west of the Mississippi River. With that in mind, the Palmyra 4-H Livestock Show is the oldest 4-H show east of the Spanish Fork River. Started in 1955 by 4-H leader George Banks, Saturday, April 25 marked the 54th year for this annual event. It started in the salt grass pasture behind the church, then was held in a couple of large barns, but for the past 37 years has been held in Lee and Joan Jarvis* sheep barn. And like LDS General Conference, there is always a good chance there will be rain, wind and sometimes snow. The 41st annual Leland stock show was held in the rain at the Salem Arena on Saturday April 25. Officers included; President Garrick Liddiard, Vice President Cody Anderson, Secretary Heidi Christensen and Reporter Swasey Bliss. Leaders were Dwight and Brenda Liddiard, Bill and Linda Beck, Russell and Lisa Olsen and Clair and Brenda Christensen. Hog Division There were 39 total hog exhibitors. Special thanks go to Leland 4-H Support. This year's show was held in memory of Ron Stoker. Family members present were Karalee Beckstead, Reid S t o w , David Stoker and Brad Stoker. The judge was Brett Bowman of Utah State University, and record book judges were Rex and Sherrie Larsen. The Benjamin 4-H Livestock Club, which is one of largest in the state of Utah, has dedicated leaders, including David and Tammy Peay and Wendell and Jana Lee Williams. The club officers are Wyatt Peay, president; McKenna Anderson, vice president; Shanae Jensen, secretary; Rex Galloway, historian; Carson Jones, steer chairman; Tylle Brennaman and Seth Worthington, sheep chairmen.
