President Netella Montague and her board were honored for their service over the past two years, and a new president and board were installed. The new president is Claudia Fisher. The new board consists of: 1st Vice Shirley Griffiths, 2nd Vice Shirley Hudman, Secretary DeAnn Sandage, Treasurer Karren Anderson, Historian Sharlene Money, Registrar Afton Howard, Chaplain Dale Smith, Parliamentarian Melba Jeppsen, Scrapbook Arlene Stoneman, Chorister Rhea Jean Hancock and Accompanist Melanie Seely. Montague, who has served as president for the past two years, reported on what has been accom- plished during her time in office. She said the South Center Company now has 17 1/2 camps and 298 active members. The new Twilight Camp was created this past year. , Montague reported that the historic pioneer cemetery project is well under way. The local DUP raised over $40,000 to pay for a commissioned statue of a pioneer family. They have identified 105 graves and will provide a headstone for each one. Names are still being compiled. A ribbon cutting for the pioneer cemetery is planned for mid-June. Additional beautification projects and historical documentation will be ongoing. Montague also expressed her love and appreciation to all of the members of this company. "I have enjoyed so much seeing you and working with you and being acquainted with you," she said. In addition to recognitions for the outgoing board, Carol Pepperdine recognized all of the camp captains who have served from 2007-09. Dot Matem and LaRue Pitts, visiting from DUP International, addressed the group. Both ladies had high praise for the South Center Company. "You're doing all that we hope you're doing and more," said Matern. She spoke about the purpose of DUP to "preserve, perpetuate and honor the names and achievements of the men, women and children who were our pioneers" Pitts spoke about the importance of compiling histories of pioneer ancestors. Her grandparents were pioneers, but they died before she was born. She feels she's gotten to know them because she's researched them and compiled their histories. Spanish Fork's Clyde Bradford spoke to the group about participating in wagon train reenactments.
