Soft comforts in volunteer service Through the years, 92 year old, Dixie Thomas, has dedicated her time and talents giving comfort and warmth to others. She has made hundreds of soft, colorful blankets and quilts for hundreds of individuals, including family, friends and many children she will never know. These soft gifts have been enjoyed by all ages, from newborn babies to older senior friends. For years they have been given to each new baby in her LDS Ward in Spanish Fork. Many of them have been given to comfort children in the Primary Childrens' Hospital in Salt Lake City. Children in women and childrens' Abuse Shelters, as well as children in far-away places, like Africa and Ethiopia, have been blessed with these soft comforts. At 92, Dixie keeps busy creating these soft gifts and she does so with joy ... and hundreds find warmth, comfort and joy in receiving them.
