Mindy Johnson, family and consumer science teacher at Spanish Fork High, nominated JoAnn. Mindy states, "JoAnn has gone to bat for Family and Consumer Science Programs and needs in our district." "JoAnn has high expectations of her CTE teachers. Knowing what she expects, makes me strive to be a better educator. Her main concern is for us to help our students. She is constantly seeking out ways for us as teachers to give our students what they need to be successful," said Chris Thomas, Salem Hill and Spanish Fork High work-based learning coordinator. "JoAnn Tuttle is a strong supporter of Family and Consumer Science. As the CTE Coordinator for Nebo District, she has responsibility for many areas and treats each area like a parent treats individual children. And, like a parent, she treats each of our areas like it's her favorite. With the opening of the new high schools and the shifts in staff and programs, she and those in her office have done JoAnn Tuttle an amazing job of balancing our needs and desires with the budget. The new schools and revamped junior highs all have full clothing labs — something that isn't happening in many areas of the country. The foods classrooms are equipped with modern appliances and appropriate layouts that make teaching in them a pleasant experience. She is an enthusiastic supporter of the Child Care Preschool programs at the high schools. In short, JoAnn makes sure that our programs in Nebo District are second-rate to no one. She does whatever she can to get us what we need to keep our classes up-to-date and functional with everything the students need to stay on the cutting edge of technology and knowledge in our areas," said Roberta Merrill, Spanish Fork High family and consumer science teacher.
