Show lifestyles Covering what matters most A4 • WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2008 Obituary Missionaries Mary Ellen Beckstrom Joel Adams Mary Ellen Chappie Beckstrom, 80,- of Spanish Fork, died surrounded by her loving family on Friday, • October 24,2008 at the Mt. View Hospital in Payson of a stroke. She was bom No-' vember 7, 1927 of goodly parents, Joseph Chappie Jr. and Lilly Ann Loy Chappie. She learned the value of hard work at an early age, growing up during the depression with six brothers and five sisters. She carried this work ethic with her throughout her life. She attended schools in Spanish Fork and at Utah Technical College in Provo, Utah (now UVU). She married Paul H. Beckstrom on January 20, 1946, and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. To this union were bom seven children (three sets of twins). She was an excellent homemaker, and a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be dearly missed by all. She enjoyed her callings in the LDS Church, especially in the Young Women Presidency, Relief Society Presidency, Sunday School and Cub Scouts. She is survived by her husband of nearly 63 years, Paul H. Beckstrom, children: Jan B. Spagnolo; Jeffrey (Camille) Beckstrom; and daughter-in-law; Irene Beckstrom Moore and her Elder Joel Adams has recently returned from successfully serving in the Virginia, Richmond mission. He will be speaking in the Salem 10th ward on Nov. 9, at 9 a.m. located at 160 S. ^60 W., Salem. Joel is the son of Doug and Susan Adams of Salem. His grandparents are Allen and Faye Adams, Cleve and the late Helen Swenson, all of Spanish Fork. husband Bob Moore; ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, with two more on the way; and two sisters; Merle Curtis and Janet (Kirk) Jameson. She was preceded in death by her son Gary Paul Beckstrom and twins Pauline and Paulette Beckstrom, and twins Mary and Terry Beckstrom; six brothers and four sisters. Funeral services were held Monday Oct. 27, 2008 in the Spanish Fork First Ward chapel. Burial was in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery. The family gives special thanks to Dr. David Bennion for his loving care. He will be speaking at the Red Pines Ward at 989 South 2550 E on November 9 at 9 a.m. Joshua is the son of Mike and Angie Poulter. Melvin and Doreen Barney of Spanish Fork are pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter Jennifer Ann to Zachary Malachi Richins, son of Niel and Patricia Richins of Payson on November 8, in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple. A reception to honor the couple will be held that evening from 6-7:30 p.m. at the LDS church house at 100 East 200 South Provo. We extend an invitation to all friends and relatives. Jen graduated from Spanish Fork High School and received a degree in nursing from Utah Valley State College. Zac graduated from Payson High School and recently returned from serving a mission in Samara, Russia. Jen is the granddaughter of Clyde and Dorothy Lundell and Ted and Donna Barney. Zac is the grandson of Michael and Karma Lloyd and Richard and Elizabeth Richins. Derrick Aitken Derrick Bernell Aitken, son of Robert and Lori Aitken, earned his Eagle Scout award on Sept. 30, 2008. His Eagle project was to restore portions of the Mt. Loafer trail. Derrick is the third son in the Aitken family to receive his Eagle award. He is the grandson of Don and Arlene Hansen and the late Jean and Bernell Aitken. We are grateful to all of his leaders and friends that helped him. We are proud of you, son.
