Family and friends were invited to join the students in a fun evening showcasing the school year. After the students' shared their singing talents, a slide show was shown of activities throughout the past year. After receiving their diplomas, each of the 66 sixth-graders told the audience a favorite memory from sixth-grade or from their time at Brockbank Elementary. Many of the students began attending Brockbank in kindergarten, and have had many happy and fun experiences at our school that we have shared. It will be hard to see these students leave for Junior High, but we wish them the best. We will miss them next year! SF seventh grader gets scholarship to visit China Volunteer work has paid off for a Spanish Fork seventh grader. Her work earned her a $2,000 scholarship to travel to China this summer, and the honor of being named a 2008 Inspirational Merit Scholar by People to People International. Spanish Pork Junior High student Kelsey Mecham, 13, was one of 20 scholarship recipients. She will travel to China in June and July as a student ambassador with People to People International. As a fifth grader, Kelsey tutored younger students in reading at Canyon Elementary for several months. "It made me feel great to help somebody," Mecham said. She has also done fundraising for the National Wild Turkey Federation. Even with the scholarship, the three week trip to China will still cost Kelsey more than $4,000, but she's glad for the help. When Kelsey's sister went to Europe with People to People a few years ago, she didn't get a scholarship. "This is quite a big honor I think," said Kelsey's mother Debbie Mecham.'
