These events go above and beyond the normal definition of "relays." They include everything from traditional relays to relay events in the hurdles, long jump and others. No individual results were kept, but Spanish Fork again took first place in team scores for both boys and girls. Pictured above is Jason Anderson. ON THEIR WAY: Spanish Fork High School's girls golf team is off to a good start in their first season. The girls hosted other Region 4 teams at Spanish Oaks on Monday, April 21, 2008. The Lady Dons defended their home turf, edging Lone Peak and Pleasant Grove for the victory with a team score of 210. Kelsey Briggs led Spanish Fork with a score of 48, second place overall behind Lone Peak's Hadley Jarvis, who shot 46. Briggs is currently tied with Jarvis for third in region. After giving up four hits in the first inning, Robinson retired the next eight batters in a row. The Dons grabbed a 5-3 lead in the bottom of the third on RBIs from seniors Aly Tingey and Lindsee Thurgood. Lehi cut the lead to one in the top of the fourth with a solo home run but Spanish Fork's Whitney Holm put the game away in the bottom of the inning with a three-run blast over the left field fence. Holm followed her fifth inning home run with a solo shot in the bottom of the sixth giving her four RBIs for the day. Robinson picked up the win going four strong innings, giving up five hits and allowing four runs. Holm, in addition to hitting two home runs for the Dons, relieved Robinson in the fifth inning. She recorded the last nine outs in order while striking out three. The 10-4 victory puts the Dons in the driver's seat to bring home the region title as two of their final three games are against teams at the bottom of the region standings. Baseball Player Profile Kelsey Briggs Sophomore Golf Kelsey Briggs is turning some heads in Region 4 girls golf. Briggs led Spanish Fork to victory at home on Monday, April 21, 2008. She shot a 48, just two over first place finisher Hadley Jarvis of Lone Peak. Briggs and Jarvis are tied for third in region in individual standings. She is the daughter of Lisa Johnson and Charlie Briggs. The sophomore said she's just having fun out there. She decided to try out because her friends were trying out. "This is the first year I've even touched a golf club/' Briggs said.
