Timpview led 30-0 to begin the fourth quarter of play. But the neversay-die Dons came storming back, scoring 28 unanswered points in a short span of seven minutes. Did this gutsy performance remind any fans of a guy named Jim McMahon who engineered BYU to a Miraculous comeback versus SMU? Yes, it was a different outcome, but there were similarities to that 1980 Holiday Bowl win. Down by two with just under six minutes to play, Naulu took the direct snap, then looked to throw before racing to the right pylon for the two-point conversion. A host of Timpview tacklers stopped him just short of the goal line. The T-birds then ran out the clock and escaped with a 30-28 victory. In the first quarter, Spanish Fork threatened to take the early lead. Successful pass plays took them to the Timpview five-yard line, but the red and gray were plagued with two false starts which forced a fourth and 15. After an incomplete pass, Timpview took over on downs. However, the Don defense prevailed as they came out firing on all cylinders. On one play, LB Coltan Tomlinson was blocked by two orangemen, but broke loose to make a text-book shoe-string tackle for no gain.
