Jim Hathaway was also presented with the Certificate of Merit and medal for his tireless service. When Williams moved to Spanish Fork and transferred to Post 68, he asked himself. "Where does this guy get the strength to do all of these things?" When he asked, their reply was simply, "Well, that's just Jim." For the last 20 years. Hathaway has served the Post 68 Honor Guard by caring for and transporting the rifles used at military funerals. Cleaning and repairing the rifles was a general labor of love for Hathaway, Williams said. "Jim, we love you and honor you tonight," he said, "if one bus Jim as a friend, he can do no better." Intro to Watercolor Instructor, Char'Ree Reynolds two-hour Class: $45 Materials Fee: $10 8-10 a.m., Room 28 This class promises loads of fun and creativity as participants learn the basics of watercolor painting. Instruction will cover basic brush and wash techniques, mixing paint, and an overview of styles, methods, and materials for this medium. Additional instruction will cover illustrative concepts and visual problems solving. Instructor Bio Reynolds is currently finishing her B.A. in Art from Bfigham Young University, As a member of the Spanish Fork Arts Council since 1999, she has taught watercolor and drawing classes for the Youth Arts Festival for seven years. She has also taught neighborhood art classes for adults, with emphasis on watercolor techniques. If you've ever watched SF17 you've seen her emcee the Fiesta Days Grand Parade or report on community events. Reynolds has also been in charge of the children's craft tent at the Harvest Moon Hurrah since its beginnings in 2005. Reynolds loves people and loves art, and when the two can come together that's when the fun really begins. see how easy it is to create a melody line, write lyrics, and create a chord progression. Song writing is fun. If you can write a term paper, you can write lyrics. If you can talk, you can sing. If you want to be a songwriter you can. This course will concentrate on the creative aspects of music writing. It will not cover how to write musical notation or how to play an instrument. Although it is not required that you play a musical instrument, the most successful songwriters do play some kind of instrument. Come and join in the fun! Instructor Bio Steve Boothe is one of the owners of Boothe Brothers Music. He enjoys writing and performing songs for friends and family. He started singing and performing when he was a child and still enjoys it today. Boothe gives private guitar, voice, and songwriting lessons at Boothe Brothers Music. He loves music —it is a way of life for him. You are invited to come and get involved in music too. It will change your life for the 'better. Boothe said, "Music keeps our family together. We have five children, four in-law outlaws and six grandchildren, all of which are musical. Music is truly a joyous part of living. It gives us an excuse to get together and share time "with each other." music. Little or no experience is required to participate. We will be learning songs as a group and will perform them in front of a live audience during the Harvest Moon Hurrah. Instructor Bio Heidi Beddoes has been involved . with bluegrass music from an early age. She has been performing for more than 18 years. Beddoes has a music minor from BYU where she was involved with the Folk Music Ensemble and was a member of the BYU Folk Dance Tour Band. Beddoes teaches mandolin and guitar privately. In addition, Beddoes teaches a Folk Music class * at Springville High School. Folk/Bluegrass Ensemble: Intermediate Instructor, Heidi Beddoes One-hour Class: $25 Materials Fee: $5 10-11 a.m., Band Room This is an opportunity for adults with some musical background to become more involved in the folk and bluegrassgenre. Studentswill learn group performance skills and have a live performance during the Harvest Moon Hurrah. Suggested instruments include but are not limited to: fiddle (violin), guitar, mandolin, banjo, bass (guitar or upright). Students must provide their own instrument and be familiar with playing it (i.e. chords and reading music or tab). Indi vidual practice time outside of class will be encouraged. We will focus on the proper technique of dance movement with instruction in ballet positbns, lyrical interpretation, b«ics of tap, and jazz. Niqole has been recognized f<r her choreography and recentl; has been on staff with 'Dana America', and she is also coowner of Academy of Dance Performance in Spanish Fork. Couple Dancing Instructor, Jamie Peck One-hour Class: $25 10-11 a.m., Dance Studio This course will teach the fundamentals of ballroom i dance. The dances that will be taught are country swing, cha-cha, and waltz. Whether you're serious about dance, or just want to have fun with your spouse or significant other, this class is for you. Grab a partner and come prepared for a'fun .time! Instructor Bio Jamie Peck enjoys sharing her love of dance with other people. She has been dancing since she was a little girl, and plans to continue dancing for the rest of her life. She has traininginjazz^ballet, ballroom, and hip hop, and is certified Silver in Latin ballroom dancing. Jamie graduated from the Mountainland Applied Technology Center in 2003 as. a Certified Nurses Assistant, and is currently enrolled in the ballroom dance program1 at UVSC. |
