THE BVHS TEAM EARNS 1ST PLACE AT CHEMISTRY OLYMPICS - On May I two teams from Bryce Valley High School competed in the Chemistry Olympics held at Southern Utah University. The team of girls consisted of Angie Comp, Chanlel Henrie and Kami Mortensen and the boy's team consisted of Wade Moore, Kasey Shakespear and Wyatt Shakespear. The competition covered three events: quantitative analysis, qualitative analysis, and a comprehensive written exam. In the qualitative analysis event the Bryce valley teams earned the first place trophy for the best school average and the girl's team won medals for the best individual team. The event was conducted in two different labs. The Boy's team performed the chemical analysis the fastest in their lab and thought they had won but the girls in the other lab did the analysis in 58 seconds. The average of the two good scores, however, earned them the honors of the top placing school in that event. Students from nine different schools in southern Utah and one from New Mexico competed in this activity which is growing in popularity each year. 24 Weeks Your ad is mailed to EVERY P.O.
