After a scoreless first half, the Wolverines jumped on the board first in the 63rd minute when junior Shantea Adams' corner kick flew over the outstretched hands of SUU goal keener Holly Senter and was belted into the back of the net by fellow junior Clough. The goal not only gave the Wolverines a i0 lead, it also tied Clough as the all-time goal scorer at UVSC with 13. The lead was short lived when in the 76th minute SUU midfielder Laura Goodrich took an errant pass and lifted it over UVSC goalkeeper Mallory Schott to tie the score. Late in regulation Turner had a breakaway but was taken down before she could put up a shot. No penalty was called on the questionable play. In the physical match, three yellow cards and one red card were handed out, and the Wolverines escaped unscathed as all cautions were issued to SUU players. The two overtime periods were played out with the goalkeepers for each team coming up big to preserve the tie. Anderson played 10 freshmen for the young Wolverines as he continues to search for players to play well in crucial moments. On a team with no seniors, the freshmen have been a solid addition early on in the season. "Today they [the freshmen] really stepped up," Clough said. The tough-nosed play of Turner has set the tone for what Anderson expects from this year's freshman class: toughness and heart. Anderson also praised the superb play of Schott. Schott came away with nine saves on the afternoon, including several diving saves when it appeared the net was wide open. "She has been solid," Anderson said. The Wolverines have two more road games before returning home Sept. 21 against Northern Arizona.
