Show A4 Multimedia students win documentary film award A group of multimedia students from campus recently submitted their documentary to the 2006 Utah Service Symposium, earning them the Jury's Choice award in Documentary/Arts category. The Utah Service' Symposium is an organization sponsored by Salt Lake Community College and Learn and Serve America. The organization encourages students throughout Utah to submit work that reflects upon service and experience. "It was a great experience and totally worth it; they got a lot of good footage. The idea to raise money for the orphan- age was fantastic, the need is great over there," said Taylor Grant, a member of the multimedia group. UVSC students submitted a documentary of an orphanage being built in Russia. The members of the group led by faculty member Robert Trim were Mindy Trim (student project leader), Brad Storrs, Bryce Bishop, Bryce Newell, Taylor Grant, Tomoko Ttetamatsu, Marine Daghouz, Carson Groff, and Colleen Bur. The students will receive a SI00 award, which they will be using to further the project. tpouf ccimpu/ Distance Ed. MONDAY*APRIL 3 -2006 Students fund scholarship by "Giving of the Green" On March 16th and 17th the Student Alumni Association, under the direction of the Alumni Association raised over $1200 in donated funds from students across campus during it's two day run. Giving of the Green called upon students to donate their loose change. Under the direction of the Alumni Association students solicited a sizable donation that will be matched by the Foundation board. In all $2400 will be put towards the creation of a new scholarship for a student here at Utah Valley State. "One student will really appreciate the small sacrifice of fellow students who made the difference," said Jeri Allphin, Director of Alumni Relations. "We consider this campaign a great success, especially for a first time campaign." The scholarship will be the Student-to-Student Scholarship, a privately fu nded award based on student need. The scholarship will be available next year. The campaign Giving of the Green started for the first time this year and Allphin hopes based on the success it had that it will become an annual campaign. Students who are interested in applying can apply on line. Y O I C © / • What are your thoughts on MySpace.com?
